“Step Outdoors” is a group of clubs, individuals, organizations, and public agencies working together to bring opportunities and activities to area residents and visitors. Pete Herres describes the history of Step Outdoors that began in the late nineties, “There was a need in the Wellsboro area for us to get together with all of the recreational programmers to see if we couldn’t coordinate programming…we found out that we were competing with each other, so we scheduled a meeting.” That meeting illustrated the type of cooperative attitude and ability to work across agency lines that would lead to the formation of “Step Outdoors.”
The secret to bringing everyone together was mutual respect. They ultimately found that the programs had much to offer each other, especially in scheduling and promotion. By working collaboratively, they could make each other better. In this program, you will see the results of their hard work and learn something new along the way.
